Acme Synthetic Chemicals was set up in 1970 by the Kallianpur family which began their foray into entrepreneurship by establishing Acme Soap Works, a soap and detergent manufacturing unit, in the year 1947.

Acme pioneered the manufacture of Chromatographic adsorbents like Silicagel & Aluminium Oxide.
Later Acme focused on Castor Oil derivatives since India is the largest producer of Castor Oil.
Acme standardised technology for the continous cracking of Castor Oil, for the first time in India.
